How do I register a federal political committee?

Nonconnected federal PACs raising or spending over $1,000 in a calendar year must register with the Federal Election Commission. This is done by filing a Statement of Organization (Form 1) with the FEC.

The following information will be needed in order to complete the form:

  • Committee name, address, email address and web page address
  • Date of the PAC’s establishment
  • Type of political committee
  • Identity, address, title and phone number for the PAC’s custodian of records
  • Identity, address, title and phone number for the PAC’s treasurer
  • Identity, address, title and phone number for the PAC’s registered agent
  • Identity and address of each bank account holding committee funds
