Upon registration, political committees typically designate a campaign depository, separate from personal funds. In general, checking accounts that are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation or the National Credit Union Administration are sufficient. Sometimes PACs find themselves obligated to maintain multiple accounts at multiple banks in multiple states.
